Player Ratings: U.S. Men’s National Team vs. Honduras
- Updated: October 8, 2011
After each match the contributors to New England Soccer Today will rate the performances of the United States National Team players who made an appearance on a 1 to 10 scale (1 horrendous, 5 average, 10 perfection). This week Sean Donahue contributed ratings for the USA’s 1-0 victory over Honduras.
Tim Howard – 7.5
Scary moment early, but Howard made some fantastic saves under tough conditions.
Steve Cherundolo – 6.5
Typical performance from the right back. Dangerous getting forward and kept his side quiet on defense.
Carlos Bocanegra – 4.5
Had some shaky moments, but settled down in the second half.
Michael Orozco Fiscal – 3.5
Just doesn’t look ready for this level. Too sloppy and physical.
Timothy Chandler – 5.5
Quiet night, but that’s better than most U.S. left backs performances lately.
Kyle Beckerman – 6
Quiet first half, but played the role of anchor well in the second half.
Danny Williams – 6
Impressive debut. Held his own and looked comfortable.
Maurice Edu – 5.5
Bad yellow card, but otherwise a solid, if quiet, night.
Brek Shea – 6.5
Shea certainly has earned a place in the national team with performances like tonight. Used his pace and creativity to create chances on the wing, but he’ll want his second half chance back.
Clint Dempsey – 8
Fantastic goal and spearheaded the U.S. attack all night. Seemingly involved in all the U.S. Chances.
Jozy Altidore – 5
Somewhat quiet night. Hasn’t been able to turn his club form into goals for the U.S.
(sub) Oguchi Onyewu – 6
Missed a sitter, but was the best center back of the night for the U.S.
(sub) Damarcus Beasley – 6
Beasley showed he still has a lot of pace and showed a bit of the form that made him so deadly in World Cup 2002.
(sub) Michael Bradley – 6.5
Really helped put an end to any Honduras threat after he came on.

(sub) Juan Agudelo – N/R
