Revs Academy Winless on Weekend

The Revolution 18s claimed a 2-2 draw against Player Development Academy at Durfee High School in Fall River, Mass. on Saturday.

It was a weekend to forget for the Revolution Youth Academy, as the 16s and 18s went a combined 0-3-1 on Apr. 21 and Apr. 22 against a pair of New Jersey-based clubs.

The 18s opened the slate with a 2-2 draw to Player Development Academy on Saturday morning at Durfee High School. The Revs found goals from Ramiro Osario and Mitchell Taintor, but PDA replied with goals form Jelani Williams and Tyler Lundgren.

But the 16s failed to find firepower against PDA in the follow-up match. Alec Neumann, Leondro Lemache and Niel Guzman scored a trio of goals before the interval and left the Revs in hole it couldn’t climb out of.

On Sunday morning, the 18s allowed a pair of goals for the second straight match, but this time fell a goal short of a point in a 2-1 loss to the New York Red Bulls at Gillette Stadium.

Although the 16s scored managed to find the net in the bookend game, it wasn’t nearly enough against New York Red Bulls, who claimed a 5-2 win Sunday afternoon.

With the draw and loss, the Revs 18s record stands at 6-5-1 (third place in the U-17/18 Northeast Division), while the the Revs 16s fall to 7-5-0 (second place in the U-15/16 Northeast Division).

The Revs Academy hit the road on Apr. 28 against Potomac at Maryland SoccerPlex in Boyds, Md. On Apr. 29, the Revs will face Baltimore Bays Chelsea at McDonogh High School in Owings Mill, Md.
