Cameron, Parkhurst Get Calls to NT Camp

New England natives Geoff Cameron (Attleboro, Mass.) and Michael Parkhurst (Providence, R.I.) were among 11 additional players called into U.S. Men’s National Team camp by head coach Jurgen Klinsmann on Sunday. Klinnsman had initially invited 16 players on May 15.

Cameron has played in 10 games for the Houston Dynamo (MLS) this season. As one of the team’s two starting center backs, he’s been part of a defensive unit that shut its opponents out four times this season. Cameron has three National Team caps.

Parkhurst started all 33 games he played in for Nordsjaelland (Danish SuperLiga), playing center back and right back for the current league cup contenders. He has 11 National Team caps on his resume.

Both players are products of Rhode Island-based youth club Bayside FC.

The National Team camp, which will run until May 26 in Orlando, FL, is in preparation for a series of games against Scotland (May 26), Brazil (May 30), June 3 (Canada), June 8 (Antigua) and June 12 (Guatemala).
