The New England Revolution placed four players on waivers in advance of Monday’s waiver draft.

Forward Blake Brettschneider, defender Florian Lechner, midfielder/forward Alec Purdie and midfielder/forward Michael Roach all had their options declined and were subject to the draft. None were selected, and all four are now available on a first-come, first-serve basis to any club in MLS.

Brettschneider was signed by the Revolution right before the start of the 2012 season as the club awaited the arrival of Jose Moreno. The 23-year-old striker was penciled into the First Kick starting XI at San Jose, but spent the bulk of the season in a reserve role. He scored two goals in 17 games in 2012.

Lechner arrived in Foxboro shortly after the season kicked off and made nine appearances in an injury-plagued campaign. Foot and knee injuries limited the 31-year-old during his lone season in Foxboro.

Purdie, a 2012 Supplemental Draft pick, made his MLS debut on Mar. 24 vs. Portland as a 70th minute substitute. The 23-year-old wide midfielder played in five games for the Revolution in his rookie campaign.

Roach, another 2012 Supplemental Draft pick, never saw action with the first team. However, the 24-year-old midfielder/forward featured in all 10 Reserve League games and scored one goal.

In the wake of the moves, Revolution now have 24 players on the roster, including recently-signed Kalifa Cisse.
