NCAAs: UConn Advances; Brown, Northeastern Knocked Out

Fourth-seed Connecticut clinched a third round berth in the NCAA Division 1 Men’s Tournament, while Northeastern and Brown were bounced from the bracket in Sunday’s second round action.
The Big East champions claimed a 1-0 win over Northeastern in Storrs, Conn., with Mamadou Doudou Diouf scoring the lone goal of the game in the 24th minute. Goalkeeper Andre Blake made a pair of saves to preserve the result.
Meanwhile, Brown fell 2-1 to second-seed Maryland in College Park, Md. Bobby Belair drew first blood for the Bears in the 17th minute, but the Patrick Mullins leveled it in the 44th minute. Dan Metzger grabbed the game-winner in the 90th minute to lift the Terrapins to the third round.
Connecticut will face New Mexico on Nov. 25. in Storrs, Conn. Kickoff is set for 1pm.
