BP Gunners to Face Carolina Dynamo in Nat’l Cup Weekend

Reigning Amateur Cup Champion Battery Park Gunners will meet the Carolina Dynamo (PDL) in Game 2 of the inaugural USASA National Amateur Championship, which is set for the weekend of May 24-26 in Greensboro, NC.
On May 24, Battery Park will face the Dynamo at 8:00pm, while Game 1 will pit Croatian Eagles (Wis.) against FC Sonic (Pa.) at 5:30pm. Both games will be played at Macpherson Stadium, the home of the Dynamo.
The winner of each game will play for the Steinbrecher Trophy on May 26 at 11:30am. The third-place match will be played at 9:00am. USASA has billed the event as a forum for “determining the nation’s true amateur champion.”
Battery Park, which beat RWB Adria (Ill.) 2-0 in last year’s Amateur Cup Championship, claimed the top spot in the Bay State Soccer League table last season with a 15-2-1 (46 points) record. They opened the 2013 season last weekend with a 4-1 win over Middlesex FC.
