It was a memorable debut on all fronts for Alencar “Junior” Ventura in Saturday’s Professional Arena Soccer League (PASL) quarterfinal between the Las Vegas Legends and the San Diego Sockers at Las Vegas Sports Park.

The local scoring phenom scored in the first quarter to help give the Legends seize an 11-7 win over the Sockers, who entered the match winners of the last four PASL titles.

“Last year, they knocked us out in the Final Four, and now it’s our turn,” team owner and coach Meir Cohen told the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “It’s sweet revenge.”

The Legends signed Junior, who scored nine goals in six games for the Western Mass Pioneers last year, ahead of the quarterfinal clash.

Las Vegas will play in the semifinals against Hidalgo La Fiera FC (Hidalgo, Tex.) on Mar. 15 in Chicago.
