Machado Shines in Final Day at Combine

Providence College forward Fabio Machado shined on MatchDay #3 of the MLS Combine by scoring and assisting in a 5-1 win for Team adiZero over Team Predator on Tuesday.

Machado assisted on Cameron Iwasa’s 60th minute goal, then scored one of his own in the 75th minute. The Revolution Academy product went 49 minutes after spelling fellow former Real Boston Ram Dominique Badji in the 41st minute.

In the second match of the day, UConn midfielder Adria Beso Marco was stationed on the left side of the midfield, and went the full 90 for Team Nativo in its 1-0 loss to Team Nitro Charge.

Here’s how all four New England college prospects present for the five-day showcase fared in the finale, and their cumulative stats from all three matches.

Dominique Badji (Boston University): Badji went 41 minutes on Tuesday as the secondary striker, and despite showcasing his athleticism during the skills competition, the former Terrier failed to find the scoresheet in Ft. Lauderdale. Three game totals: 155 minutes.

Adria Beso Marco (Connecticut): The Spaniard played his third position in as many games by getting a long look in the central midfield. Played centrally on Sunday, and out on the right on Friday. Three game totals: 225 minutes

Sergio Campbell (Connecticut): Campbell went the entire 90 for the second straight game for Team adiZero, boosting his stock by showing himself as one of the better defenders at the Combine. Three game totals: 235 minutes.

Fabio Machado (Providence): As mentioned, Machado came on for Badji just before the interval. After playing on the left wing on MatchDay #1, and central midfielder on MatchDay #2, Machado featured as the target man on MatchDay #3. Three game totals: 166 minutes, 1 goal, 1 assist.
