The Rhode Island Oceaneers are set to embark on their quest for U.S. Open Cup glory on Apr. 26 when they host Connecticut Soccer League side Newtown Pride FC in the Region 1 qualifying portion of the 2016 tournament.

The Oceaneers, who began play in the American Soccer League last fall, are one of three New England-based sides partaking in the first round of the 2016 tournament. In addition to Rhode Island and Newtown, Bay State Soccer League outfit Kendall Wanderers will also be in action on Apr. 26 when they host New York Pancyprian Freedoms.

Coach Jasir Charris and his squad are slated to kick off the ASL spring season on Apr. 4 when they host AC Crusaders. The club finished the fall season with a 2-3-3 record.
