GK Spangenberg Signs w/ Revs
- Updated: March 3, 2015
He may not have seen a single minute of action during the preseason, but that didn’t stop goalkeeper Trevor Spangenberg from signing a deal with the New England Revolution on Tuesday.
Spangenberg took to Twitter on Tuesday to announce the news, which is expected to be made official on Wednesday.
Very excited to announce that I have signed a contract with the @NERevolution! Bring on the 2015 season! #NERevs #PROGKNATION

Spangenberg, 23, joined the club on trial for its preseason camp, where he battled out fellow trialist Tomas Gomez for a spot on the active roster. Last year, he played in one match for the now-defunct Chivas USA, and subsequently became a free agent after the club was dissolved during the offseason. He is expected to serve as the Revolution’s third goalkeeper.
Spangenberg is the third trialist on the Revolution’s preseason roster to ink a deal. Last week, midfielder Tyler Rudy and London Woodberry both signed contracts following successful trials.
With Spangenberg on board, the Revolution roster now stands at 24 active players.
