PDL: Grant, Williams Earn League Honors
- Updated: July 28, 2015
Seacoast United Phantoms striker Anthony Grant and GPS Portland Phoenix goalkeeper Matt Williams were both named to the PDL All-Conference Team for the Eastern Conference on Monday.
Grant scored 12 goals and collected four assists in 12 games for the Phantoms, helping lead them to a second-place finish in the Northeast Division. His 2.33 points per game average led all of PDL in 2015. The Jamaican International also made the 2014 All-Conference Team after scoring 14 goals in 12 games for the New Hampshire outfit.
Williams collected five clean sheets and posted a 0.60 goals against average in 10 games for the first-place Phoenix this year. Thanks to Williams’ efforts, the Phoenix conceded a division-low nine goals this year.
The 2014 season marked the second straight year in which two representatives from New England-based PDL sides have earned All-Conference Team honors. Last year, Grant was joined by former Western Mass Pioneers forward Alencar Junior on the list.
