USL: Rhinos Sign Boss Lilly to Extension
- Updated: November 18, 2015
One month after guiding Revolution USL affiliate Rochester Rhinos to a championship, head coach Bob Lilley was rewarded by the Rhinos organization in the form of a three-year contract extension, which was announced on Thursday.
Lilley, who also won 2015 USL Coach of the Year honors, managed the Rhinos during a sensational season in which they racked up league-best 61 points (17-1-10). He took the helm in 2014 after previously serving as head coach from 2011-2012.
“This past season was special in many ways and another step forward for the organization,” Lilley said in a club release. “It is important that we continue to progress and strengthen our bond with our community and fans so we may continue to grow and prosper in a very competitive USL.
Recent Revolution loanees Tyler Rudy, Timi Mulgrew, and Donnie Smith have all played under Lilley during his most recent stint in Rochester.
During the course of his 14-year coaching career, Lilly has amassed a record of 206-108-74 with seven division or conference championships and two regular season titles. The Rhinos’ 2015 championship was their first in 14 years.
“I am thankful for the trust and confidence that the Clark family and Pat Ercoli have in me to play my part,” Lilley said, “and look forward to the challenge.”
