USOC: Southie FC Headed to Pa. for 3rd Rd. Qualifying
- Updated: January 7, 2016
Southie FC’s quest for U.S. Open Cup qualification will go through the Keystone State as the Boston-based side was pitted against West Chester United for the third round of the Open Division on Thursday.
The third-round match between the Boys in Neon and the Eagles is set for Apr. 2 at West Chester United S.C. Turf Field in West Chester, Pa. Kickoff is set for 6:00pm. The winner of the Region 1 showdown will receive a spot in the tournament proper, which kicks off on May 11.
Southie reached the third qualifying round after beating Battery Park Gunners and GPS Omens in the first and second rounds, respectively. Southie, which clinched the Massachusetts State Soccer League North Division in 2015, is the lone New England aggregation to advance to the third qualifying round.
Should Southie beat West Chester United, they would secure the first U.S. Open Cup berth in club history.
