Safira FC Claims 7th-Straight Regional Futsal Title

Massachusetts-based Safira FC reasserted its indoor dominance over the weekend by securing a record seventh-straight regional title at the U.S. Futsal Northeast Regional Championship in Wildwood, N.J.
The indoor selection, which has also won the U.S. Futsal National title three times, beat Atletico Colombia 5-3 in Monday’s championship match. Local goalscoring legend Alencar Junior was among those who suited up for Safira during the three-day tournament.
Safira reached the final after beating Equipe du Quebec 4-2 the semifinal, a game which followed wins of 10-0 and 8-1 over CCSC Aztecs Elite and LF5E, respectively, during group stages.
The Commonwealth club boasted a staggering plus-19 goal differential during the tournament.
Monday’s title game win extended Safira’s dominance at the Northeast Regionals to seven years after the club won its first Regional in 2010.
