USWNT Crush Colombia in Hartford

The U.S. Women’s National Team collected goals from a half-dozen sources in Wednesday’s 7-0 romp of Colombia in front of a record Nutmeg State crowd of 21,792 at Pratt & Whitney Stadium in East Hartford, Ct.
Crystal Dunn opened the account in the 27th minute while Allie Long tallied in the 32nd and 65th minutes. Mallory Pugh (33rd minute), Carli Lloyd (39th minute), Tobin Heath (62nd minute) and Christen Press (76th minute) all joined the scoring parade as well to give the U.S. a comprehensive win.
Waltham, Mass. native Samantha Mewis came on as a 46th minute substitute while Boston Breakers defender Whitney Engen saw action when she entered the game in the 67th minute.
Wednesday’s margin of victory was the largest by the U.S. over Colombia in program history while the win itself pushed the U.S.’s mark to 10-0-0 in 2016, and outscoring opponents 39-1.
The U.S. and Colombia will meet again on Sunday at Talen Energy Stadium in Chester, Pa. Kickoff is set for 2:00pm.
