Southie FC’s run for the USASA National Amateur Cup title came to an end in Saturday’s Region I semifinal against Lansdowne Bhoys FC, who staked a 4-1 win at Tibbetts Park in Yonkers, N.Y.
Brian Grissel gave the Boston outfit an early lead when he converted a Tim Ritter pass in the 20th minute. But it was all Lansdowne Bhoys from there.
Following Grissel’s opener, the hosts scored four unanswered goals from Sikele Sylvester (35th minute), Sean Kelly (70th minute), Craig Purcell (80th minute), and Ciaran McGuigan (90th miniute).
With the win, Lansdowne Bhoys reach the Region I final on Jun. 19 against the winner of Sunday’s Christos FC-Phoenix Sport Club semifinal.
Southie’s journey to the Region I semifinal was paved with wins over Trenton Rebels, Tarrafal FC, and GPS Omens.
