NPSL: DeRosa’s Last-Gasp Goal Rescues Point for GLUFC
- Updated: May 8, 2016
Patrick DeRosa’s stoppage-time strike rescued a last-gasp point for Greater Lowell United FC in Sunday’s 1-1 draw to NPSL debutant Kingston Stockade FC at Westford Academy in Westford, Mass.
In the 90+2 minute, Alexander Alleyne sent a free kick from 30 yards that found DeRosa, who pushed it through, much to the delight of the home crowd.
Stockade midfielder Michael Creswick opened the scoring in the 49th minute after chipping keeper Cooper Hall.
A 33rd minute red card to Joe Bogart left the guests shorthanded for nearly an hour. Bogart was sent off following a hard foul on Alleyne.
Sunday’s match came a day after the Dragons staked a 1-0 season-opening win over New York Athletic Club.
With the draw, the Dragons go to 1-0-1 (4 points) while the 0-0-1 Stockade earned point no. 1 in their debut match.
Greater Lowell United will return to action on Saturday when they face the Rhode Island Reds at Brown University in Providence, R.I. Kickoff is set for 6:15pm.
