2nd Rounder Matsoso Exits Camp

Rookie midfielder Napo Matsoso, who was selected by the Revolution in the second round (31st overall) of the 2017 SuperDraft, was released from preseason camp on Monday.
The 22-year-old garnered 143 minutes over four preseason games with the Revolution this winter. Matsoso entered camp following an eight-goal, four-assist senior season at the University of Kentucky.
But breaking through a crowded midfield with a number of returning players proved to be too great a challenge for the second-round pick, who was unable to distinguish himself during the course of the winter.
Trialist Emmanuel Appiah was also released from camp on Monday. The former Sporting Kansas City midfielder registered 171 minutes over five preseason games.
The Revolution currently have 22 players under contract, with six open spots.
