Southeastern New England-based Football Alliance of New England (FA1) announced its expansion plans on Friday as the league will field 10 teams for the upcoming season.
Providence City FC, Franklin Gators FC, New Bedford City FC and Providence United have joined the league, which will likely kick off play across the region during late-spring.
FA1 is entering its third season, as the league carries the torch of the former Ligas Unidos Soccer Association (LUSA) and Luso-American Soccer Association (LASA).
Among the storied LASA clubs that have made the migration to FA1 are Taunton Eagles and Taunton Sports, which will continue the Silver City derby this season.
New England Navigators enter the 2017 campaign as reigning league and Cup champions.
