No Playoffs for Mutiny after Long Island’s 2 Wins

The New England Mutiny’s hopes for a postseason berth faded to black on Sunday after the Long Island Rough Riders claimed maximum points from their final two regular season matches.
After beating the New York Magic 5-1 on Friday, Long Island emerged with a 3-1 win over the Lancaster Inferno on Sunday. With the wins, the Rough Riders (22 points) leapfrogged the Mutiny (21 points) for second place in the final East Conference standings.
The Mutiny finished the season with a 7-3-0 mark, good for third place. They conceded only 10 goals, tied for the lowest total in the conference along with the Rough Riders.
With the Mutiny no longer in the playoff picture, Long Island will face conference champion New Jersey Copa FC (25 points) in the East Final on Tuesday in Holmdel, N.J. The UWS National Championship will take place on Jul. 21-22 in Grandville, MI.
