Phantoms Advance to Conference Semis

The Seacoast United Phantoms advanced to the PDL’s Eastern Conference semifinals after claiming a 3-1 win over Reading United AC (Pa.) in Tuesday’s Conference play-in match at Amesbury Park in Amesbury, Mass.
Seacoast jumped out to a three goal lead before the break to set the tone. Leading scorer Donnett Sackie gave the broke through in the 20th minute before Ivan Blaskic widened the gap in the 25th minute. Not long after, Audi Jepson scored in the 36th minute to put the hosts in command.
To Reading’s credit, they immediately replied to Jepson’s strike within moments when Aaron Molloy sent it through from the spot in the 37th minute. A foul on United’s Evan Finnegan inside the 18 set up the penalty strike.
After a frenzied first half, the scoreboard went eerily silent following the break. The only moment of note occurred in stoppage time when Reading’s Nathan Brown was sent off for a hard challenge inside his own half.
Seacoast will face an opponent to be determined in the Conference Semifinals, which will take place in Statesboro, Ga. during the weekend of Jul. 22-23.
