The Seacoast United Phantoms were eliminated from the PDL playoffs by the Charlotte Eagles following Saturday’s 4-1 extra time loss in the Eastern Conference semifinal in Statesboro, Ga.
Phantoms leading scorer Donnett Sackie put the Granite State side ahead in the 55th minute off a corner kick he nodded into the back of the net.

The Phantoms prospects of advancing to the conference final were promising until Joao Costa leveled it in the 76th minute to make it anyone’s match as full time approached. It would not be the last the Phantoms defense would see of Costa.

Costa continued his scorching form in extra time, tallying in the 94th, 108th, and 111th minutes to send Charlotte to the conference final, where they’ll face the Long Island Rough Riders on Sunday.
Seacoast finishes its season with an impressive regular season record of 11-1-2 (35 points), tops in the Northeast Division. They were guided by Ally Bain in his first year at the helm, and will likely secure a spot in the 2018 U.S. Open Cup tournament.
