FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution announced the signing of right midfielder Ryan Guy on Thursday. Guy has spent the last four seasons playing in Ireland with St. Patrick’s Athletic.
The 25-year-old Guy made 139 appearances and scored 25 goals in his time with the Saints. In 2009, he was voted the St Patrick’s Athletic Supporters Club Player of the Year.
Prior to his time in Europe, Guy attended the University of San Diego where he tallied 16 goals and 24 assists in 79 games, while being named to the All-Conference team 3 times. After college, he was originally drafted by FC Dallas in the second round (22nd overall) of the 2007 MLS SuperDraft, but opted instead to try his luck in Europe.
The 5-7 San Diego native will wear number 13 for the Revs.
The signing comes just one day after the team announced they had waived Nigerian midfielder Michael Augustine. Guy will not be available for the Revs match on Friday against the New York Red Bulls.
