Breakers Bring in Trio
- Updated: March 2, 2012
The Boston Breakers added a trio of players on Thursday that signed with the club prior to the suspension of the 2012 WPS season.
Australian internationals Tameka Butt and Kyah Simon and Longmeadow, Mass. native Bianca D’Agostino were all added to the Breakers roster in advance of the team’s first season in WPSL Elite League play.
All three had signed deals with the Breakers in January, but were released from their contractual obligations after the WPS Board of Governors suspended play for the 2012 season. But shortly after WPS was put on hold, the Breakers joined the newly-formed WPSL Elite League, which also features former WPS sides Western New York Flash and the Chicago Red Stars.
The trio joins returning Breakers captain Leslie Osborne, former Washington Freedom defender Cat Whitehill, forward Katie Schoepfer and 2012 draft pick Courtney Jones, for the upcoming season.
The team has not yet announced its 2012 schedule, but the Elite League season is expected to start in early-May.
