Hydra and Voltage Battle to 1-1 Draw

Fabricio Barancoski scored seconds after the opening whistle, but Alencar Junior equalized minutes later in Saturday’s 1-1 draw between the Voltage and Hydra at Foley Stadium.

Barancoski’s first minute goal immediately put Vermont in command, but Junior replied with a strike of his own in the 18th minute to help Worcester grab a point.

The game started with a flourish when Barancoski poked through the Hydra defense and buried a shot from 15 yards just as the fans at Foley Stadium were settling in.

But the Hydra supporters found reason to cheer in the 18th minute when Evan Burokas set up Junior, who ripped a shot from distance to level the terms in the 18th minute.

Despite two goals within the first 18 minutes, both teams attacks went silent for the remainder of the match. Goalkeepers Amir Pasic and Oliver Blum took care of the rest after each collected three saves on the evening.

The Voltage resumes its road trip on May 23 at Lusitano Stadium against the Pioneers. Meanwhile, the Hydra remain at home for a May 26 showdown against the Pioneers at Foley Stadium.
