Riders Offer Bus to Gillette

The Midnight Riders are offering an alternative way to get to Gillette Stadium on Sunday when the New England Revolution takes on the New York Red Bulls.

For $40 anyone looking to catch the game can get a ticket and a bus trip from Boston – The Phoenix Landing to be precise. Lower cost options are also available if a ticket isn’t needed or one is already a member of the Riders, an independent supporters group of the New England Revolution.

For New England Patriots games, the MBTA offers commuter rail service from Boston to Gillette Stadium. The same service is also offered for some international soccer matches at the stadium. For the Revs, there is no such simple public transportation option.

“I totally understand how hard it is to get to matches every week,” said Fran Harrington, second year president of The Midnight Riders, in a Riders press release. “I haven’t had a car for a little over a year now. If I didn’t have so many close friends that offer to drive I’d be out of luck. There’s no public transportation at all to get there.”

The Riders are also planning an “open house” to welcome non-members to their pregame tailgate.

More details on the bus, which leaves Boston at 4pm, can be found on the Midnight Riders website.
