Revolution midfielder Ryan Guy played 75 minutes in his international debut on Tuesday, but it wasn’t enough to give Guam the win, as they fell 1-0 to the Philippines.

The game, which marked Guam’s first game in the Peace Cup, was played at Rizal Memorial Football Stadium in Manila.

According to a report, the Matao employed a direct approach against the Azkals, but could not find the back of the net. Second-half sub Patrick Reichelt scored the lone goal of the game in the 81st minute.

Guy played 90 minutes in last Saturday’s 1-1 draw to New York and embarked on a 22-hour flight to the Phillipines on Sunday in order to arrive in time for Tuesday’s match.

Guy and his Guam teammates will return to action on Thursday when they face Taiwan.

Hopefully, Guy can make an impact for Guam, and help give the national team a little success. It would be a great story for Guam soccer, and for Ryan.

I agree with Robert. This experience will no doubt increase Ryan Guy’s leadership ability, which can really improve the Revs in the long run seeing as Guy is one of, if not the only, pro player with the Guam team. He probably should be their captain.
