Revolution striker Jerry Bengtson tallied three times for Honduras in Tuesday’s 8-1 World Cup Qualifier win against Canada in San Pedro Sula (Honduras).

Bengtson scored in the 7th, 17th and 83rd minutes, while former Houston Dynamo forward Carlo Costly also netted a trio of his own in the 29th, 48th and 89th minutes. With the win, Honduras advances to the Hexagonal, while Canada has been eliminated.

The Revolution striker will return to Foxboro this week, and is expected to suit up for Saturday’s home finale against the Chicago Fire.

In 11 games for the Revolution, Bengtson has collected two goals, but hasn’t scored since an Aug. 25 match at Columbus.

Since signing a designated player deal with the Revolution in July, the 25-year-old forward has scored six times for Honduras, including three goals during their Olympic campaign in London over the summer.

Hi there Bengston seems to be able to score goals for his national team & not the Revs? MAYBE Mr Heaps should be looking @ some tapes of his goals. Mr Messi seems to play better for his Club team and not his National team?????????? –RE a Stadium talk talk talk how long do Revs fans have to waite?Fall river would be ok if they got a few Porto/Benfica/Sporting ex players then they would fill the stadium You American fans would like a stadium on your own door step? A true soccer supporter would travel to see there team I travelled in May to see a International match in New York

I think he has more continuity with his National Team side than his club team. They (Bengtson and Revs) should be more in tune with each other next year. A whole offseason to gel with his teammates here will do him some good. Heaps will be able to work around his poacher type playing style. I expect much more from him and the Revolution next year.

Jerry Bengtson is a good soccer player, he does everything possible to help the Revs, probably next year the all team will be stronger, we need more players like Jerry, we need a good golkeeper and change the all defense.
