Mass. USOC Qualifiers Set for the Weekend

Six amateur sides will commence their quest for the Lamar Hunt Trophy with the first round of U.S. Open Cup qualifying this weekend.

On Saturday, Mass United FC (MSSL), fresh off a 4-3 win over Middlesex FC (BSSL) in Amateur Cup action last week, will battle Battery Park Gunners (BSSL) at Madison Park High School in Roxbury, Mass. First whistle is set for 1:30pm.

On Sunday, the aforementioned Middlesex FC will strive to shake off last week’s loss in their match against East Providence Sports (LUSA) at Ceylon Park in Dorchester, Mass. Kickoff is slated for 2pm.

East Providence’s affiliation with a Mass.-based league allows it to participate in the Commonwealth’s qualifiers.

Meanwhile, Boston Olympiakos (MSSL) and Mass Premier Soccer (BSSL) get ready to square off at Fens Park Dr. in Boston. Kickoff is set for 2pm. The winner will face NELASA side Strela Negra, who were granted a first round bye, the weekend of Nov. 17.
