E.P. Sports, MPS roll in USOC Qualifying

There was no shortage of scoring in the Commonwealth’s U.S. Open Cup qualifiers on Sunday.
East Providence Sports (LUSA) and Mass Premier Soccer (BSSL) combined for a dozen goals in their respective first round wins.
In Dorchester, East Providence grabbed a 6-1 win over Middlesex FC (BSSL) at Dorchester High School. The LUSA Cup champions earned a 2-1 halftime lead before opening it up with four goals in the second frame. Jimmy Hernandez and Nick Tavares each bagged a brace, while Armando Gomes and Kyle Teixeira each added a goal for the Red and White.
With the win, East Providence advances to the semifinals against Battery Park Gunners, who beat Mass United FC 2-1 on Saturday, on Nov. 18.
In Boston, Mass Premier ran out to a 3-0 lead by halftime and never looked back in their 6-0 win over Boston Olympiakos (MSSL) at Fens Park Drive. Nick Christman and Dan MacGregor each scored twice, while T.J. Thompson and Tyler Macnee added to the total.
With the win, Mass Premier moves on to the semifinals against Strela Negra (NELASA), who were given a first-round bye, on Nov. 18.
