Sene Ranked 6th in Final Castrol Index
- Updated: November 8, 2012
New England Revolution forward Saer Sene was listed as the sixth-best player in MLS on the final Castrol Index, which was released on Thursday.
Sene’s score of 762 fell three points shy of Earthquakes forward Steve Lenhart, who claimed the fifth spot with a mark of 765. Galaxy forward Robbie Keane led all MLS players with a score of 854. This year’s top 10 was populated entirely by forwards.
Sene tallied a team-high 11 goals and added two assists in his first season with the Revolution. The 25-year-old striker was signed in February 2012 after trialing with the club during the preseason.
Among the Revolution players listed inside of the top 100: Kelyn Rowe (45), Matt Reis (47) and Benny Feilhaber (90). In last year’s index, Shalrie Joseph was the Revolution’s highest-rated player at the 94th spot.
The Index ranked all players from the data collected since the MLS season began on March 10, 2012, through the final game of the season. The Index “assess(es) every player’s actions for net positive or negative impact on a team’s ability to score or concede a goal, analysts have logged more than 1,800 player movements per match, examining the merits of every action.”
