Trialist Horth Signed
- Updated: January 25, 2013
Former Gordon College (Wenham, Mass.) forward Matt Horth signed with the New England Revolution on Friday.
Horth got his first look with the Revolution after he was brought in for training last fall. He returned as a preseason trialist when camp started on Saturday.
“We’re pleased to add a young forward in Matt to the roster,” Revolution General Manager Michael Burns said in a statement. “He is a talented young player who had had a strong record of scoring goals in the NASL. We believe has the potential to take the next step and do well for our club.”
The 23-year-old forward played for the Atlanta Silverbacks (NASL) prior to his arrival in Foxboro. In 49 appearances, he scored 18 goals in 2011 and 2012. Last season, he scored 10 goals and added one assist and was named NASL Player of the Month for September 2012.
During his college career, Horth scored 36 goals and added 20 assists in 74 games. He was a three-time All-New England honoree and a two-time first-team all-conference performer
Horth also played for the now-defunct Cape Cod Crusaders (PDL) in 2008.
