Liverpool, in the midst of their best season in recent history, currently sits in second place in the Premier League. Among their key players are England Internationals Steven Gerrard, Daniel Sturridge and Glen Johnson, Uruguay striker Luis Suárez, Brazil midfielder Lucas, and Belgium ‘keeper Simon Mignolet.

AS Roma are also having a strong season and hold second place in Serie A. Legendary Italian midfielder Francesco Totti, current Italian international Daniele De Rossi, Brazil defender Maicon, and Ivory Coast forward Gervinho are among their better known players.

“Throughout its storied history, Fenway Park has hosted some of the best in athletic competition and served as a community gathering place for a diverse group of fans with a wide array of interests outside of baseball and even sports,” said Fenway Sports Management President and Boston Red Sox Chief Operating Officer Sam Kennedy in a media release. “We’re excited to continue this tradition by hosting two of the world’s top football clubs and are thankful to Mayor Walsh and his staff for helping us hold world class events that showcase the City of Boston to audiences across the globe.”

As part of their summer trip to America, Liverpool will also play matches in Chicago, New York and Charlotte. Roma has matches scheduled in Denver, Dallas and Philadelphia.
