UPDATED: Revs to play Crew and Dynamo in preseason

While the final details of the New England Revolution’s preseason plans have yet to be released, some pieces are slowly starting to emerge. According to a report on MLSSoccer.com, the Revs are set to head to Atlanta in March for two matches against the Columbus Crew, while another report in the Houston Chronicle has them set to face the Houston Dynamo as well during their stay in Georgia.

Breaking the team’s past precedent of avoiding MLS opposition in preseason, the Revs will play the Crew and Dynamo in a tournament in early March. The Revs are set to face the Dynamo, the team that defeated the Revs in the 2006 and 2007 MLS Cups, on March 13th. The dates for the Crew matches have yet to be released, but are expected to fall between March 4-12.

According to the Houston Chronicle, the tournament name will be announced next week. The matches are expected to be played at Kennesaw State University, the home of the Women’s Professional Soccer league’s Atlanta Beat.

The Revs are scheduled to open preseason training on January 31st.
