- Updated: September 29, 2014
Jermaine Jones is officially the highest-paid player in Revolution history after the latest salary list from the MLS Player Union revealed that the U.S. International is commanding a salary of $3.252 million.
Jones was acquired by the club following a blind draw conducted by the league in late-August. Following the news, ESPN’s Alexi Lalas reported that Jones was signed to a 1.5 year deal worth $4.7 million.
The $3 million-plus figure is by far the largest salary in Revolution history. The previous high was Shalrie Joseph’s designated player deal worth $550,000 during the 2012 season.
In addition to Jones’ salary, other notable salaries on the Union’s list included Geoffery Castillion’s $329,000 number, as well as the aforementioned Joseph, who’s figure is listed at $294,000. Castillion and Joseph command the third- and fourth-highest salaries, respectively, on the Revolution roster, according to the list.
The top five earners on the Revolution roster are as follows:
1. Jermaine Jones ($3,252,000)
2. Jose Goncalves ($479,375)
3. Geoffrey Castillion ($329,033)
4. Shalrie Joseph ($294,000)
