Brief Cameo for Fagundez in Uruguay Win
- Updated: January 29, 2015
It wasn’t his longest spell of action, but Diego Fagundez nevertheless found time on the field for the Uruguay U-20s in their 3-1 win over Peru in Thursday’s 3-1 win at Parque Central during the second hexagonal match of the South American Youth Championship.
Fagundez came on in the 90th minute for Gaston Pereiro, who scored La Celeste’s second goal in the 55th minute. Franco Acosta opened the account in the 27th minute while Mauro Arambarri tallied the third for Uruguay in the 77th minute. Adrián Ugarriz grabbed Peru’s lone goal in the 66th minute.
To date, Fagundez has accumulated 147 minutes over four matches (two starts, two substitute appearances) for Fabio Coito’s squad. The 19-year-old has only collected a total of 82 minutes over Uruguay’s last five games.
Uruguay will play their third hexagonal match on Sunday against Paraguay.
