Three days after scoring the Revolution’s first two goals of the season, midfielder Kelyn Rowe was named MLS Player of the Week for week 4 on Tuesday.
Rowe’s 21st minute tally against the San Jose Earthquakes ended the Revolution’s season-opening 290-minute scoreless streak. He struck again in the 37th minute to help give his club a 2-1 win, the first of the season for the Revolution.
Saturday’s match was the second multi-goal effort of Rowe’s career. He scored twice in a 5-1 win over Philadelphia in Aug. 2013.
The 23-year-old midfielder was also named to MLS Team of the Week on Monday.
Rowe is the first Revolution player to garner Player of the Week honors since Lee Nguyen earned the award for week 32 of the 2014 season after a two-goal performance against the Houston Dynamo on Oct. 16.
