Mulgrew Starts, Rudy Sets Up Winner as Rhinos Stay Unbeaten

Revolution loanee Timi Mulgrew made his first professional start while fellow loanee Tyler Rudy set up the game-winner in the Rhinos’ 2-1 victory against FC Montreal at Saputo Stadium Turf Field in Montreal.
Mulgrew started up top along side striker partner Christian Volesky, and went 57 minutes before he was subbed off for Alex Dixon. The 22-year-old striker fired one shot, but appeared to have suffered a leg injury before he exited.
Rudy, who entered the match in the 63rd minute, chipped a long pass over the back line to a streaking Volesky, who dodged the charging Maxime Crepeau and slid a shot into the empty net.
Volesky, who also scored the Rhinos first goal in the 57th minute, has collected a team-leading four goals for the Rhinos this season.
Montreal, which is still chasing their first point of the season, made a late charge in the waning minutes, as Alessandro Riggi scored in the 88th minute. The Rhinos defense held strong, however, and the Rhinos took all three points.
Providence College graduate Marcos Ugarte also made an appearance after being held out last week, entering in the 85th minute and finishing the game.
Rochester ends the weekend in sole possession of first place in the USL Eastern Conference on 17 points with a 5-0-2 record.
The Rhinos will return to action on Saturday when they host Toronto FC II at Sahlen’s Stadium.
