Agudelo, Jones Earn U.S. Call-ups

New England Revolution stars Juan Agudelo and Jermaine Jones were named by U.S. head coach Jurgen Klinsmann on Sunday to the U.S. National Team’s 22-man roster for upcoming friendlies against the Netherlands on June 5 in Amsterdam and Germany on June 10 in Cologne. Both players are expected to travel to Amsterdam on Monday and return after the June 10 game in Germany, missing New England’s match at Portland Timbers on June 6.

Agudelo scored for the U.S. in its last friendly against Mexico on April 15, a 2-0 win. He now has three goals in 19 appearances for the U.S.

Jones last played for the U.S. in its 2-0 friendly win over Panama on Feb. 8. He has three goals in 50 U.S. appearances. Jones, who has recently seen minutes as a center back for the U.S., is listed as a midfielder on this roster.

Notably missing for the U.S. are Toronto FC forward Jozy Altidore (hamstring injury), former Boston College and current FC Nantes (France) midfielder Alejandro Bedoya (knee issue), and team captain and former New England Revolution star and current Seattle Sounders forward Clint Dempsey, who remains in Seattle awaiting the birth of his fourth child.

The friendly at the Netherlands on Friday, June 5, will be shown nationally on ESPN starting at 2:30 p.m. ET while the friendly at Germany will be shown nationally on FOX Sports 1 starting at 2:45 p.m. ET on Wednesday, June 10.
