Nguyen, Agudelo On Initial U.S. Gold Cup Roster; Bengtson on Honduras

The Revolution could have as many as three players away on Gold Cup duty after provisional rosters for the 12 participating CONCACAF countries were released on Wednesday.

Midfielders Juan Agudelo and Lee Nguyen were among the 35 players listed on the United States roster, while striker Jerry Bengtson was named to the Honduras roster.

Agudelo and Nguyen have been previously called up this year by coach Jurgen Klinsmann, will compete for the chance to represent the U.S. during the tournament, which will run from Jul. 7 through Jul. 26.

Agudelo most recently started for the U.S. in its 2-1 triumph over Germany on Wednesday while Nguyen’s last action for the National Team came in February.

Bengtson was a member of Honduras’ World Cup roster last summer, and was also part of the squad’s Gold Cup qualifying efforts earlier thus year. He was loaned by the Revolution to Argentinean side Belgrano last summer, and recently headed back to his native Honduras ahead of the agreement’s expiration, which is Jun. 30.

The final 23-player roster announcement will be made by CONCACAF and the Participating Member Associations on Jun. 23.
