- Updated: July 20, 2015
Revolution Homegrown Player Zach Herivaux headlined the list of award winners from the New England Revolution Youth Academy, which received five awards from the U.S. Soccer Development Academy (USSDA).
Herivaux was named to the year-end USSDA U-17/18 East Conference Starting XI, while Revolution U-16 head coach Bryan Scales picked up U-15/U-16 East Conference Coach of the Year. A pair of players from Scales’ U-16 squad – goalkeeper Trey Miller and defender Daniel Hones – were named to the U-15/U-16 East Conference Starting XI, while the Revolution U-14s won the U-13/U-14 Style of Play award for the East Conference.
Herivaux, who captained the Revolution U-18s during the 2014-15 season, signed a homegrown contract with the Revolution back in the beginning of May. The squad finished the regular season at 10-9-7, finishing fourth in the Northeast and just missing out on a playoff berth. He was named to the U-17/U-18 East Conference Starting XI. In four seasons with the Academy, Herivaux had 12 goals and 14 assists in 92 appearances.
Scales, who also serves as the Director of Youth Development for the Revolution Youth Academy, helped guide the U-16 team to the USSDA Quarterfinals before bowing out to Philadelphia on the road. The team went 12-5-9 in the regular season to finish third overall in the Northeast Division and earning the 18th seed in the nation. During the regular season, the team scored 45 goals while allowing just 15 goals in 26 games played. In the playoffs, the U-16s upset the Capital Area RailHawks and the Crew SC Academy Wolves in group play.
Miller and Jones both had an impact in New England’s playoff extra-time loss in extra time to Philadelphia. Miller made seven saves in net while Jones scored in the 20th minute, which tied the game 1-1 at the time.
Meanwhile, the Revolution U-14s, who guided by head coach Gary Hall, posted an impressive 22-3-2 record with the lone blemish coming on the final game in a showcase in Westfield, Indiana.
