Boston Breakers goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher was voted NWSL Player of the Week for week 17 following a 12-save performance against the Washington Spirit last weekend.
After the Breakers built a two-goal lead in the first half, Naeher made nine second-half saves to preserve a 2-1 victory in the Breakers’ home finale.
The Bridgeport, Ct. native is the fifth Breakers player to be honored as the NWSL Player of the Week. She received the honor in Week 18 of the 2014 NWSL season.
Earlier this summer, Naeher earned a spot on the U.S. Women’s National Team that went on to win the 2015 Women’s World Cup. In her nine starts between the sticks for the Breakers, Naeher has faced 154 shots and made 52 saves.
