Rhinos Clinch Playoff Bye With 2-0 Win

The Rochester Rhinos defeated Saint Louis FC 2-0 on Sunday afternoon, making them the first team in the USL to clinch a playoff spot and earning a first round bye in the process.
The Rhinos were in control of the entire match, opening the scoring on a counter attack in the fourth minute on a Colin Rolfe goal assisted by Kenardo Forbes. Forbes also assisted the second goal in the 34th minute, when his cross from the corner was headed in by Tony Walls.
In total, Rochester outshot Saint Louis 12-4 overall and 7-2 on shots on goal. Saint Louis FC failed to register a shot in the first half controlled by the Rhinos, as they were outshot 8-0 after 45 minutes.
Despite only registering two saves, goalkeeper Brandon Miller earned his 11th shutout of the season, which tied a USL record. With the shutout, Miller’s GAA was lowered to 0.51, which remains the best in the USL.
Revoultion loanee Timi Mulgrew entered the game in the 74th minute for Alex Dixon, playing the final 17 minutes. Providence College graduate Marcos Ugarte also made a substitute appearance, playing the last 24 minutes until the final whistle.
With the win, the Rhinos increased their home record to 10-0-2 and their overall record to 15-1-8. The Rhinos’ remain nine points in front of Louisville City FC, who sit in second place in the USL Eastern Conference. The Rhinos travel to Virginia on Saturday to face the Richmond Kickers for a 7:00 pm kickoff.
