Zachary Herivaux scored his first pro goal to send the Revolution to the U.S. Open Cup’s Round of 16 following Wednesday’s 1-0 extra time win over the Carolina RailHawks at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C.

Herivaux, who also earned the first pro start of his career, collected a pass from Scott Caldwell and ripped a shot from outside the area that fell into the back of the net in the 103rd minute.

Wednesday’s match was halted in the 10th minute due to severe weather, which delayed the match for two hours and 14 minutes.

The Revolution will find out their next Open Cup foe on Thursday when U.S. Soccer conducts the draw for the Round of 16.

I like the fact that Heaps brought in the big guns to help win the game. With the insertion of Nguyen and Tierney to play with Fagundez, Jose, Caldwell and Kamara, the Revs were running rings around the Railhawks. They probably should have scored a couple more goals. Hopefully, he continues with this trend and try to win the US Open Cup. I would like to see them with the opportunity to play in the Champion’s League, so the team could further expose their brand internationally which should enhance the club.
