The surging Western Mass Pioneers extended their unbeaten run to six by pocketing a 4-1 win over A.C. Connecticut on Friday at Lusitano Stadium in Ludlow, Mass.

Chris Roswess bagged pair of early goals in the 16th and 32nd minutes while Matthew Moore and Dan Fabian piled it on in the 52nd and 90th minutes. Colin Kemmerer tallied the lone goal for Connecticut in the 66th minute.

Fabian collected his first two assists of the season on the strikes from Roswess while goalkeeper Nick Zucco collected five saves on the evening.

The Pioneers, who are 5-0-1 in their last six, outshot the Blues 14-7, forcing Connecticut’s Nick Velleca to make seven saves.

With the win, Western Mass strengthened its hold on first place by climbing to 21 points with a 6-1-3 mark, six points clear of second place GPS Portland Phoenix. Connecticut remained on nine points by dropping to 2-4-3.

The Ludlow selection will look to make it seven games unbeaten on Jul. 1 when they host Seacoast United Phantoms at Lusitano Stadium. The regional rivals played to a 1-1 draw in their season opener on May 7.

The Blues hope to bounce back on Sunday when they host the Westchester Flames at Western Connecticut State in Danbury, Ct.
