Connecticut-based PDL side CFC Azul announced on Tuesday that it added four new players to its roster in advance of its inaugural season in PDL play.

Defender Mamoudou Dioubate, midfielder Jesse Menzies, forward Thomas Obasi and forward Bryan Zobre have all committed to play with the club in 2012. Dioubate, Obasi and Menzies all currently play for Central Connecticut State University, while Zobre, a CCSU graduate, recently played for the Western Mass Pioneers.

“We have commitments from three current Central Connecticut players and one former standout,” Azul head coach David Kelly said in a statement. “Thomas gives us a winger with supreme ability on the ball – he will be one of the most entertaining players in the league. Mamoudou is a warrior with the heart of a lion. Jesse is a local Connecticut lad who has pace, vision, and technique. And in former Blue Devil, Bryan Zobre, we have a player with outstanding speed, and a phenomenal athlete with an incredible engine.”

The Azul kicks off its regular season on May 5 at Yale University Reese Stadium in New Haven, Conn. against another first-year PDL club, Boston Victory SC. The game scheduled to start at 7:30pm.
