Breakers Re-acquire Washington from Dash
- Updated: April 29, 2014
Midfielder Nikki Washington will return to Boston after the Breakers acquired her from the Houston Dash in exchange for midfielder Kaylyn Kyle.
Washington, who featured in five games for the Breakers in 2011, was traded to magicJack mid-way through the season. After claiming a league championship with the Portland Thorns last year, she joined the Dash prior to the 2014 season.
“We are excited to be bringing Nikki to Boston,” Breakers general manager Lee Billiard said in club statement. “We know what she brings as a player, and we know she can make an immediate impact for us.”
Washington played 11 games for the Thorns last year, scoring a goal and adding two assists to the championship effort. She played in three games for the expansion Dash this season.
Kyle started two games for the Breakers this season. Coincidentally, her last appearance came against the Dash in a 3-2 loss on Apr. 20.
“The Breakers organization would like to thank Kaylyn for her contributions,” Billiard said, “and we wish her all the best in Houston.”
