Reds Get Win, Draw Over Weekend

The Rhode Island Reds improved its postseason chances with a win and a draw away from Cranston Stadium over the weekend.
On Saturday, Paolo Mendes scored the deciding goal in the 83rd minute to lead the Reds to a 1-0 win over the Seacoast United Phantoms at Portsmouth High School.
On Sunday, the Reds earned a 2-2 draw against the Seacoast United Mariners at Scarborough High School. Sam White put the Mariners up with a 17th minute strike before an own goal and a Wilder Arboleda strike handed the Reds the lead going into the half. However, the Mariners fought back in the waning stages when Ben Brewster scored an 87th minute equalizer.
With the win and draw, the Reds earned a share of third place (along with New York Athletic Club) in the NPSL Northeast Atlantic Conference standings.
The Reds return to action on Saturday for a game against Mass United FC at Manning Field in Lynn, Mass. The Phantoms hit road on Saturday against the New York Athletic Club. The Mariners will also be on the road on Saturday for a match against Brooklyn.
