Reds Lose, Draw Over Weekend
- Updated: July 11, 2012
Even though the Rhode Island Reds only grabbed a point from two games over the past weekend, it was good enough to hold onto a share of the third spot (along with Mass United) in the NPSL Northeast Atlantic Conference.
On Friday, the Reds fell to the John Wolyniec-led Red Bulls by the score of 5-0 at Cranston Stadium. Keith Francisco led the way with goals (9′, 49′) while David Najem (39′) and Kamel Gudere (40′) all found the back of the net as well. The guests were also helped by a Reds’ own goal in the 42nd minute.
Back at Cranston Stadium two days later, the Reds conceded an early lead to Seacoast United Mariners after Sam White tallied on the 22nd minute. But the hosts responded after the hour when Dre’ Ruiz equalized in the 65th minute to earn the 1-1 draw.
The Reds return to action on Friday at 7pm when they face fellow third-place squad Mass United at Cranston Stadium.
