Nasco, Tashiro, VanCompernolle No Longer in Revs Camp
- Updated: February 10, 2015
The Revolution waved goodbye to trialists Joe Nasco, Jacob VanCompernolle and Yuzo Tashiro after releasing their latest preseason roster on Tuesday.
Nasco, 30, joined the club for the start of camp despite being signed by the Ft. Lauderdale Strikers (NASL). The former Rapids goalkeeper was originally obtained in a trade with Colorado in December, but was waived shortly after. However, the Revolution retained his MLS rights, and was invited to camp. He did not see any action during the club’s first two scrimmages in Arizona.
VanCompernolle, 21, was invited to train with the club following the conclusion of his collegiate career with UNC-Wilmington. He collected a combined 90 minutes at center back during the club’s first two scrimmages.
Tashiro, 32, joined camp while the club was in Arizona, also saw a combined 90 minutes of action during the first two scrimmages. He featured up top against Real Salt Lake in the first scrimmage, then as an attacking midfielder against Vancouver. The J-League veteran last played for Vissel Kobe.
The Revolution did not add anyone to their preseason camp roster. Midfielder/forward Marc Fenelus, midfielder Tim Mulgrew, midfielder Tyler Rudy, goalkeeper Trevoer Spangenberg and defender London Woodbury – all of whom joined the club on trial – remain in camp.
With the departues of Nasco, Tashiro and VanCompernolle, the Revolution currently have 27 players in camp (22 signed, five unsigned).
